STORY OF LA ONZA
La Onza was born on the beach in Lobitos. What began as a chance friendship between us grew into a vision: to create a space that celebrates community, culture, and connection.
Our name means The Ounce—a humble measure for a cup of coffee, and a reminder that even the smallest spark of inspiration can create change, invite adventure, and lead to something great.
We’re both first-time café owners and early-stage surfers, embracing the slow journey of life in Northern Peru—savoring each ounce, whether in the café, on the waves, hosting Surf & Yoga Retreats, or through the art and people who make this place unforgettable.
Jenna, Founder
Jenna is an NYC tech exec and yoga teacher who found her reset in the waves of Lobitos. Splitting her time between Brooklyn and this quiet surf town, she co-founded La Onza to help others pause, breathe, and return to what matters.
Emma, Founder
Emma blends her passions for adventure, coffee, and community in Lobitos. She manages LA ONZA's café, is an auntie to local youth, and inspires Lobitos with her stoic, inclusive spirit.
